Thanksgiving Tips & Tricks

With Thanksgiving around the corner, we sure are busy running around and getting ready for family and friends to come over and enjoy the holidays with us. We thought why not share some of our favorite Thanksgiving tips and tricks that our employees think make preparing for the holidays easier and faster! It’s fun to think about the silly family traditions that hold a special place in your heart, ones you can share with your children, so they can continue them on.

Plan Early: This is a big one and we think it should be number one. Don’t be one of those people that start planning on Monday what you are going to eat and do for Thursday. Between trying to get everything caught up at work and kids being out of school, you have plenty to keep you busy and running around. Start planning the first week of November or at a minimum the Monday before Thanksgiving. This will allow you to plan your attack on the grocery store early when it is not so busy.

  1. Lay It Out: The night before Thanksgiving lay out everything, and we mean everything. Do the dishes and set the table, layout everything you will be cooking the next morning and group them by dishes, get ice in the cooler so the beers are ready, and make sure you have plenty of seating for everyone coming over. These are all quick and easy tasks that can be done the night before that will have you off to the races the next morning.

  2. Breakfast: Lets face it, when it comes to breakfast make it quick and easy. One of our employees always prepares cinnamon rolls the night before. This way they can turn on the oven pop them in for 13 minutes and breakfast is done. Don’t over do it and try to make a monster breakfast, as well as don’t forget about breakfast and have more to do in the morning!

  3. Be Cooler: Wow this has got to be the best tip of them all! Use a cooler or coolers as extra fridge and warming bins. The fridge is going to be jam packed as it is with the normal items you already have, add to that a Thanksgiving feast and you can barely shut the door! Have no fear coolers are a great way to open up some fridge room. You can move all the drinks into a cooler filled with ice, or you can brine your turkey in a cooler (just make sure to clean after), or take aluminum foil and line the cooler to turn it into a warming bin to store cooked items and keep them warm!

  4. Home: Do a quick run through of your house to make sure everything is ready for family and friends to come over. Take out the trash, replace all the toilet paper rolls, put candles in a few rooms, make room for guest coats and shoes, and lastly be excited that everyone is coming to spend time at your home.
